“Janae Kalia-Henry found safe shoeless on NYC street: NYPD”
A 13-year-old girl who was reported missing from Pennsylvania was found walking without shoes on a Brooklyn street Wednesday, police said.
Janae Kalia-Henry was spotted on Liberty Avenue in Cypress Hill around 5:40 p.m. after a 911 caller alerted police. The teen told the caller she had been kidnapped, police said.
The suspect in Kalia-Henry’s abduction, a 47-year-old Brooklyn man, was arrested by police outside his home on Wednesday, according to cops.
Pennsylvania authorities identified the suspect as Dwayne Taylor and said he allegedly took the girl from her Redding, Penn. home on Tuesday.
Charges against Taylor were pending, the NYPD said.
Reading Police Chief Richard Tornielli said there was a connection between Taylor and the victim, but did not elaborate.
“This wasn’t a random, off the street kidnapping,” he said during a press conference streamed by local media Wednesday.
Pennsylvania police contacted the NYPD Wednesday afternoon about the kidnapping and told them they believed the possible suspect lived near the Broadway Junction subway station, authorities said.
Tornielli said Kalia-Henry didn’t require medical attention after she was brought to the hospital and would be coming home to Pennsylvania with local detectives.
