J. Cole has a very interesting relationship with Kanye West. The Dreamville boss has made it clear that he’s a Yeezy fan, but was seemingly critical of the Chicago rap icon on his 2016 song “False Prophets,” and again on 2019’s “Middle Child.”

Things between the two rappers seem to have improved, though, especially after a recent social media interaction. J. Cole was among the horde of Hip Hop heads who watched the first episode of Kanye West’s jeen-yuhs documentary, which debuted on Netflix earlier this week — and it appears he enjoyed every minute of it.

“Thank you for this @kanyewest @coodierock phenomenal vulnerable powerful sad inspirational insightful wonderful masterful. Grateful to have watched,” Cole wrote on Instagram while sharing a screenshot from the documentary.

Kanye caught wind of J. Cole’s reaction and reposted it on his own Instagram page while thanking the Dreamville founder for his support.

“That’s love family,” wrote Ye, who sent a similar message to Kid Cudi on Instagram earlier this week following a heated back-and-forth over Cudi’s friendship with Kim Kardashian’s current boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

Directed by Coodie and Chike, jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy chronicles Kanye West’s journey through the rap game with a wealth of never-before-seen footage. Parts two and three will be debuted on February 22 and March 1, respectively.

One of the last interactions between Kanye West and J. Cole happened in 2020 when Ye publicly called out the Roc Nation rapper on Twitter and demanded an apology for all the alleged sneak disses.

“I need a publicly apology from J. Cole and Drake to start with immediately,” he tweeted. “I’m Nat Turner … I’m fighting for us. I’m not putting no more music out till I’m done with my contract with Sony and Universal…On God…in Jesus name…come and get me.”
