#Massive 7-alarm fire breaks out in NYC apartment building

Three FDNY firefighters suffered burns and several other people were injured when a seven-alarm blaze tore through a six-story building in Queens on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The fire broke out inside an apartment and spread to the cockloft in the 133-unit apartment building at 89-07 34 Avenue in Jackson Heights just after 1 p.m., fire officials said.

Nine people, four firefighters and five residents, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Three of the firefighters were burned when they entered the apartment, which had its door left open, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.

“Very difficult for our members, very taxing,” Nigro said.

Fire Marshalls were speaking with the resident of the apartment to see how the fire started.
