Signature jewel style: Minimal signature pieces — a Cartier Nouvelle Vague diamond bracelet, Elsa Peretti cuffs, Sidney Garber dome cuffs, a Dinh Van cigar-band ring.

Iconic red-carpet moment: Fred Leighton necklace on Michelle Williams (above, center) with a yellow Vera Wang gown at the 2006 Academy Awards. I think it’s hard for a big significant necklace to look easy and cool on a young woman, and I loved that this look accomplished that.

First piece of jewelry: Tiny diamond stud earrings that were a 13th birthday present from my parents from Bixlers, the jewelry shop in our town.

First jewelry splurge: A Tiffany diamond cross that I got in my early 20s. I loved them in the ’90s, and my parents wouldn’t let me wear a cross, so it was a fancy act of rebellion.

Dream jewel: A Cartier Hamsa pendant designed by Aldo Cipullo. I just got the book about Aldo [by Vivienne Becker] and it’s really beautiful and inspiring. That Hamsa is hard to find, and I think that makes me want it more.

Signature jewel style: Big, bold and beautiful. I love wearing large cocktail rings, regardless of the time of the day, and statement earrings, especially my giant titanium butterfly solo earring with a gorgeous blue zircon.

Iconic red-carpet moment: For me, it is definitely Jane Fonda in a regal multistrand Cartier ruby and diamond necklace (above, center) that she wore on the Cannes red carpet in 2015. 

First piece of jewelry: A white-gold ring shaped as an eye with a tiny single diamond. It was a gift from my mum that she brought from Egypt. I still have it!

First jewelry splurge: A solitaire D-color, pear-shaped diamond pendant over 1 carat that I bought for my 30th birthday. My whole family chipped in!

Secret tip: If you lose one earring, don’t dismiss the second one. Instead, wear it with a different earring of a similar style — mismatched earrings are still such a hot trend!

Dream jewel: Vhernier’s iconic “Calla” necklace. I would be happy with any color, but prefer the ones in titanium — they are so light and perfect for daily wear.

Iconic red-carpet moment: Keira Knightley at the 2006 Oscars. She wore an iconic 1960s Bulgari necklace of sapphires, rubies, emeralds and diamonds, from their archives. I began my jewelry career at Bulgari, so the brand holds a very special place for me, and this jewel epitomizes “La Dolce Vita” style. 

First piece of jewelry: A silver ID bracelet won at the West End Fair in Monroe County, Penn., when I was 10, which I wore for years. I still have it.

First jewelry splurge: My wedding band made by Eli Halili. It’s 24-karatgold, 8-millimeters wide, quite heavy, and means more than anything. The color and patina of the gold make the ring feel like it’s a thousand years old.

Secret tip: Don’t ever be afraid to ask to try things on.

Dream jewel: Without question, a Cartier temple brooch from the 1920s. These mini masterpieces depicting a variety of architectural styles were “built” of baguette diamonds and first introduced in 1925. I’d wear it every day.
