Pictures of Bobby Henline, a veteran of the Iraq war, have circulated in messages condemning Trump over a story in The Atlantic reporting the president called fallen soldiers “losers” and “suckers” on several occasions.
Henline, who was wounded in an IED blast, told Fox News he feels like a prop when he sees his image attached to the rhetoric.
“I’m just so irritated that they put my image up there because now it looks like the president called me a loser,” said Henline, who supports Trump.
One of the images circulating shows Henline with the banner reading, “Trump says he’s a ‘loser.’ I say he’s a hero! What do you say?”
“Them taking that well-recognized photo and using it for their agenda and changing veterans’ minds, thinking the president talks to them like that is ridiculous,” Henline said.
“And I believe it worked. And that’s why I want to get it taken down because it shouldn’t be working. People need to hear the truth. That’s my image. And it should not be up there speaking for me.”
Several other outlets have reported out similar stories of Trump disparaging troops, including Jennifer Griffen, of Fox News. The president has denied ever making the comments.
