Mike Tyson no longer needs Don King to promote his fights.

As Tyson’s exhibition bout against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. approaches, the former heavyweight champion continues to do his best to convince fans that decades haven’t passed since his prime. In the latest training video of the 54-year-old former heavyweight champion, Tyson — who quit on his stool in his final fight in 2005 against Kevin McBride — remains adamant he is as focused as he’s been since being known as the “Baddest Man on the Planet.”

“Anything I do, I put so much into it. If I fail, I’m going to die,” Tyson said in the Instagram video. “How many people do that? That’s what I like to do. I go all out. I play for keeps.

“You know, I’m the greatest fighter since the conception of God.”

Tyson and Jones, 51, will meet on Nov. 28 at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, matching the youngest heavyweight champion of all-time against one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in history.

“How could I not take this opportunity up?” said Tyson. “I’m fighting Roy Jones Jr. Do not miss it. I’m back.”

As the most famous heavyweight fighter since Muhammad Ali, Tyson’s short training session clips have gone viral, with millions watching the surprising speed and strength he still possesses at his age. In a recent press conference, Tyson said he’s cut his weight to 215 pounds and has been having seven-round sparring sessions.

“I’ve been boxing younger guys and harder guys and they’re assuring me that I’m doing very well. I’m looking forward to this,” Tyson said. “The last time I was 215 pounds, I believe I was 18 or 17 years old. I’m really happy with everything that I’ve been doing. Just total confidence and self-affirmation, it’s just amazing. I’m ready to do this stuff. I can’t even explain it with words.”

It’s been a long time since Tyson stepped into the ring. It’s been a long time since he felt like he did in his final fight.

“I was happy to leave the ring. I dreaded being in the ring at that time. I was fighting for financial purposes. I was on drugs. I was a whole different person back then,” Tyson said. “I have the desire to do this now and the will to do this now. I’m just ready to do this and I feel really great and I want to see how great I look.”
