#Ice Spice Responds To A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s ‘King Of New York’

Ice Spice has responded to A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie‘s recent statement proclaiming her the newest “King of New York” in her own unique way.

The “Munch” rapper took to her Instagram stories on Thursday (February 29) to share a post explaining how her fellow native New Yorker shouted her out in such a way.

She then added a laughing face emoji, and a heart emoji, under the post, indicating that she was clearly happy with the high praise.

Check it out below.

During an appearance on Adin Ross‘ latest Kick stream on Tuesday (February 27), the Bronx rapper declared that the “Munch” star is currently the hottest name in the Big Apple.

When asked who he thinks the current King of New York is, A Boogie replied: “Ice Spice got it right now … I feel like Ice is just wildin’ right now. She got it right now.”

Ross then suggested that the two rappers should link up for a song, to which A Boogie was receptive: “For real, though.”

The “Drowning” hitmaker also offered his definition of the “King of New York,” saying: “I feel like the people, the fans, make it that. I never really forced that on people. I was never on songs like, ‘I’m the King of New York.’

“It was a lot of people that was out here doing that and made people give their opinions. But on my end, that shit just fell in my lap. I’m just doing my thing. I like making fire music. The beauty of it is being able to sell out arenas.”

Ice Spice arguably has a case for the current title. Since storming onto the scene with her breakout single “Much (Feelin’ U)” in 2022, the curly-haired rapper has proven she’s far from a one-hit wonder by scoring a string of Hot 100 hits such as “Deli,” “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj and, most recently, “Think U the Shit (Fart).”

She has also built a growing collection of awards and accolades, winning Best New Artist at the 2023 MTV VMAs and Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Despite A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s nomination, the “King of New York” debate is truly never settled.
