#How Odell Beckham may be used for Rams vs. 49ers

Odell Beckham could be returning punts for the Rams on Monday night, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Though Beckham returned just one punt in over two years with the Browns, the Rams could use him as their “safe” punt returner deep in their own territory, per Schefter, a role they’ve used Cooper Kupp in at times this year. The Rams could also put him in other packages.

Beckham will already have a lot on his plate right away after Robert Woods suffered a torn ACL on Friday. The Rams made the move to bring him in before they knew about Woods, and the injury thrusts Beckham into the No. 2 receiver role.

Still, according to Schefter, the team has pondered Beckham as a punt returner since signing him.

Beckham regularly returned punts with the Giants earlier in his career, averaging 13 yards per return in 2015, though he never scored a touchdown.

The embattled receiver signed with the Rams earlier this week after an extended breakup with the Browns. Beckham’s camp appeared to blame Baker Mayfield for his lack of production with the Browns. That led to him being waived and a courtship with the Rams.

According to Schefter, the Packers, Chiefs, Saints and Seahawks were all in on Beckham, but the Rams won the sweepstakes because they could fit his criteria and offer Beckham the ability to live in Los Angeles.
