Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Compilation Film in North America Starting July 16

GKIDS announced today it has acquired theatrical distribution rights for Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie in North America. The company will screen the compilation film in theaters nationwide in original Japanese and English dubbed versions starting July 16, 2025.
The compilation film will also begin screening in Japan on May 30, 2025. It was first announced in August 2024 during Juju Fest 2024.
GKIDs describes the film’s main synopsis as:
Before they were enemies, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were high school classmates and friends. The two powerful sorcerers are tasked with protecting Riko Amanai, a student who has been designated to be sacrificed as the Star Plasma Vessel, until she can fulfill her duty. Pursued by a religious cult and other curse users, they are the only sorcerers capable of carrying out such a difficult task – but this mission will set their destinies, and challenge the two sorcerers in ways unimaginable. The beloved and deeply emotional “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc from the global phenomenon JUJUTSU KAISEN returns to the big screen, reaching all new heights for fans and newcomers alike.
The “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc” was the first arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, which had Shota Goshozono (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 17, Ranking of Kings Episode 21, and Chainsaw Man Episode 8 storyboard artist and episode director) take over as director from Sunghoo Park, on July 6, 2023. After the arc concluded, the anime series took a few weeks off before resuming with the “Shibuya Incident Arc.” MAPPA was in charge of the animation production.
An anime adaptation of the manga’s “Culling Game Arc” was announced shortly after the end of Season 2. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the TV anime series and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel spinoff anime film worldwide, outside of Japan.
The anime adaptation is based on the supernatural action manga by Gege Akutami, which ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on March 5, 2018 and ended on September 30, 2024. A total of 30 tankobon volumes were released.
Viz Media released the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series in English, describing the main premise as:
Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
