The Heaven Burns Red free-to-play RPG, which celebrates its first anniversary this month, will have a collaboration event with the 2010 anime Angel Beats!, which was written by Heaven Burns Red scenario writer Jun Maeda. A trailer for the event that previews Angel Beats! characters like Yuri Nakamura (Harumi Sakurai), Kanade Tachibana (Kana Hanazawa), and Miyuki Irie (Kana Asumi) has been released.

The event will run from February 10 at 11 AM JST to March 10 at 10:59 AM JST

Yuri, Kanade, and Miyuki will be transported to the Heaven Burns Red world as part of the collaboration’s new original scenario. They will also be featured in the Angel Beats! collaboration gacha as SS (Rain Fire) Yuri Nakamura, SS (Earth Angel) Kanade Tachibana, and S (Pure Cosmos) Miyuki Irie respectively. Yuki will have the fire element and pierce attribute while Kanade has the light element and slash attribute. Meanwhile, Miyuki has the strike attribute. 

Outside of the collaboration gacha, Yuki will be obtainable via a login campaign that requires Heaven Burns Red players will be able to obtain players to sign in for 10 consecutive days. Successful completion will reward players with 10 gacha pulls that include SS Yuri as a guaranteed pull. The login campaign runs from February 10 at 11 AM JST to March 28 at 3:59 AM JST.

The event will also feature an Angel Beats! collaboration premium pack and songs from the anime like”Alchemy,” “Run with Wolves,” “Awakening Song,” and the opening song “My Soul, Your Beats!.”

Outside of the game, there will be:

• A live-action ad highlighting the collaboration that begins airing on February 10

• Ads in Akihabara and Ikebukuro

• An adtruck that will operate in Akihabara and Ikebukuro from February 10 to February 23. It will play “My Soul, Your Beats!”

• A broadcast marathon of Angel Beats! on Abema. The 12th and 13th episodes will have a special live watchalong program with Sakurai as one of the guests.

• A Heaven Burns Red special feature in the Weekly Famitsu issue that goes on sale on February 16, which will touch on the Angel Beats! collaboration. The cover features the collaboration image on its cover.

• The same image will be featured on the back cover of the Comptiq issue that goes on sale on February 10. The issue will have its own Heaven Burns Red special feature.

• A Heaven Burns Red x Angel Beats! collaboration menu that features a Super Spicy Mapo Tofu donburi for 1,540 yen (~US$11.74 tax-included). There is a chance to win a limited luncheon mat and meal ticket. The menu will be available from February 10 to March 9. 

• A Twitter emoji of Yuri when one uses the hashtag #へブバンAngelBeatsコラボ

• Original Heaven Burns Red x Angel Beats! goods at Wright Flyer Store. More details will be announced later.

• A singing video contest that includes “My Soul, Your Beats!” as one of the song options/categories. Submissions will be accepted from February 10 to March 31.

• Sakurai as a guest on the 42nd Heaven Burns Radio episode on February 19

Heaven Burns Red first launched in Japan in February 2022 on iOS and Android. A Steam release followed in August. The Wright Flight Studios and VisualArts/Key-developed game follows a group of girls who use weapons called Seraph to battle creatures called Cancer as humanity faces extinction.

Meanwhile, Angel Beats! aired from April to June 2010 with Seiji Kishi (Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Dai Mankai no Shou) as director and P.A.Works as the animation production studio. The original action-comedy/drama follows a group of teenagers in the afterlife who oppose the mysterious Angel, with amnesiac main character Otonashi eventually discovering the truth about their situation.
