#Gypsy Rose Blanchard Docuseries Set at Lifetime

Lifetime will continue chronicling the life of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

On the heels of its January documentary The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the cable network has greenlit a new unscripted show that will chronicle her life following her release from prison. The untitled series comes from Prison Confessions producer Category 6 Media, which is part of A+E Factual Studios.

“Millions have followed Gypsy’s story and are invested in seeing what is in store for her next,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vp and head of programming for A&E, Lifetime and LMN. “After a lifetime of trauma and serving her time, we are all rooting for Gypsy to embrace all that life has to offer and become the woman she always wanted to be.”

The docuseries will follow Blanchard starting days before her Dec. 28, 2023, release from prison, where she served 8 1/2 years of a 10-year sentence for persuading a boyfriend to kill her mother, Dee Dee, who for years forced her daughter to pretend she was suffering from grave illnesses. It will chronicle her life as he lives with her husband, Ryan Anderson, for the first time, while reconciling the notoriety she and her case have gained (including a host of other nonfiction programs and Hulu’s drama series The Act) with her desire to live an everyday life as a free woman.

The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard was a success for Lifetime, averaging 1.1 million viewers with three days of delayed viewing. The network says 9.9 million people have watched at least a minute of the three-part doc on Lifetime’s linear and streaming platforms.

Sharon Scott, Laura Fleury, Leane Vandeman and Melissa Moore executive produce the series. Brie Miranda Bryant and Nicole Vogel will executive produce for Lifetime. The series is slated to premiere later in the year.
