#Gran Turismo 7’s Single Player Mode Requires Internet Connection
The classic PlayStation racing game was subject to many changes in its most recent iteration as GT Sport. Polyphony Digital confirms that a persistent online connection is needed to play Gran Turismo.

During the most recent PlayStation Showcase event on Thursday, Sony launched Gran Turismo 7 trailer. Gran Turismo 7 will be launch by Polyphony Digital for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation5 on March 4, 2022. Polyphony Digital is an internal Japanese first-party video game development studio of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Polyphony Digital president, Kazunori Yamauchi announced the news about Gran Turismo 7‘s single-player GT Campaign mode which disheartened some of the players. Gran Turismo 7 will feature a classic GT Campaign mode where each player can tour across Europe in an adventurous expedition.

Sony is yet to reveal the upcoming high-fidelity racing game. Apparently, there’s an asterisk next to the phrase ‘GT Campaign mode’. It means features that require an internet connection include the GT Campaign mode, Livery mode, Scapes which allows players to photograph their cars freely in photo spots across over 2,500 locations, and the GT Cafe where players can view their car collection.

Internet Connection Required

  • The most irking point for fans is the requirement for a stable and persistent internet connection to play. Yamauchi reaffirms in a Gran Turismo 7 blog post that the racing game’s GT Campaign mode will require a persistent internet connection in order to play. Reestablishing that GT Campaign is an online-only single-player mode.
  • No explanation or reason was offered from Yamauchi’s end. Supposedly, Polyphony Digital doesn’t want any discussions regarding implementing such a requirement.
