#Get a Closer Look at Yokohama’s Walking Gundam Via Online Tours

Gundam Factory Yokohama wowed fans with its life-sized walking Gundam, the RX-78F00. Visitors to the site can get tours of the venue and learn more about its construction. But if you can’t get out there, don’t worry: tickets for virtual tours are going on sale!

There are three types of online tours available. “Backyard” tours will feature commentary from select members of Gundam Factory Yokohama staff, and will focus up on topics like the walking Gundam’s design, structure, movement, and how all these aspects work together. At present, four “missions” (types of tours) are available, with more to be added in future.

The “DAY tour” will give you the standard Gundam Factory Yokohama tour experience. You’ll be able to chat with the tour guide, and with fellow virtual tourists in chat.

Finally, live chat tours will be available for those who would like to screen archival footage. A moderator will be on hand to answer questions and give supplemental commentary.

Each type of tour will be available intermittently — keep an eye on the online tour site to see which packages will be available when.

Gundam Factory Yokohama was built to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam. In addition to the iconic 1:1 moving mecha, the entertainment complex also includes educational exhibits, a shop, and a café. It opened in December 2020.
