#Gabriel Chavarria on playing Selena’s brother in Netflix show

Gabriel Chavarria who stars in “Selena: The Series,” admits that the lockdown saved him from making an uncomfortable decision.

Chavarria is one of 11 children — forcing the 31-year-old actor to make hard decisions on who he takes to premieres.

“That’s always been my issue,” he confessed to The Post. “We could probably fill up half the theater if we really wanted to. Sometimes I’ll say pick a number and whoever picks it gets to come.”

The Philadelphia native plays the late Tejano singer’s brother A.B. Quintanilla, who played guitar in his sister’s band until she was murdered by a disgruntled employee in 1995.

“One of the coolest things about the show is that we get to see Selena, the human, the person,” he said. “Again we all know the icon, the legend. We never really got to know the person. We get to really show her. It was cool learning everything about her, her connections with her family.”

Chavarria, the son of Honduran immigrants, said that the miniseries is a great opportunity to showcase Latino talent on-screen, as well as off.

“Things are changing and we’re a part of that,” he said. “I’m happy and honored to be part of that change because we have so many stories to tell.”
