#Feds arrest man dubbed Capitol riot ‘Doobie Smoker’

He was having his own “joint session.”

The feds have arrested a California man dubbed “The Capitol Rotunda Doobie Smoker” after YouTube videos showed him allegedly lighting up a marijuana cigarette inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.

Federal law enforcement busted 32-year-old Eduardo Nicolas Alvear Gonzalez in Virginia on Tuesday, and charged him with entering a restricted building, disorderly or disruptive conduct, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing inside Capitol Hill on Jan. 6, according to a criminal complaint.

“Here it is, me blazing up at the Capitol. Mary Jane,” Gonzalez allegedly boasts in one of the videos.

Federal investigators say Gonzalez was part of a mob that stormed the Capitol during a joint session of Congress that was certifying President Biden’s Electoral College win.

A family member tipped the FBI that Gonzalez is the bearded man seen in the videos wearing an olive-colored sun hat, a long-sleeve shirt, a light green backpack, a black fanny pack, and a red, white, and blue American flag pants while smoking marijuana in the Capitol Rotunda.

In a video titled “Man smoking a doobie weed at capitol dome Donald Trump supporters,” Gonzalez can be seen blowing smoke out of his mouth while
another individual asks him “what strain of weed is that?” the complaint states.

In a second YouTube titled “The Capitol Rotunda Doobie Smoker,” someone asks Gonzalez why he’s smoking weed inside the Capitol, and he responds, “freedom,” the FBI says.

Gonzalez, of Ventura, appeared in federal court in Virginia on Friday.

Prosecutors say he’s a fan of spreading conspiracy theories online that is aligned with QAnon, a movement favored by right-wing extremists.

Defense attorney Rodolfo Cejas defended his client saying believing in conspiracy theories is not illegal.

“It may be strange. It may be a variety of things. It’s not a crime,” he said.

More than 200 people have been arrested and federally charged with breaking into Capitol Hill during the riot that killed five people, including a Capitol police officer.
