#Fauci will take Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine if it’s approved by FDA

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Tuesday that he will take Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine if it’s approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

The infectious disease expert made the declaration when asked by MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell if he would take the vaccine that Pfizer said Monday was proven to be 90 percent effective.

“I’m going to look at the data, but I trust Pfizer. I trust the FDA. These are colleagues of mine for decades, the career scientists,” Fauci said.

“If they look at this data, and they say this data is solid, let’s go ahead and approve it, I promise you, I will take the vaccine, and I will recommend that my family take the vaccine.”

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Monday that the promising vaccine could be administered to people by the end of the year.

But experts warned of potential distribution challenges, as the vaccine must be stored at extremely cold temperatures.
