If you are a fan of the OnePlus 9 Pro, just wait until you see the upcoming OnePlus 10 Pro. While we still have a couple of months to wait before OnePlus launches the 10 series, leaked photos, rumors, and other details continue to emerge. Here’s everything we know about the OnePlus 10 Pro and that huge stovetop camera bulge on the back.

Broad Details: Release Date, Models, and Pricing

Over the last several years, OnePlus has stuck to the same release pattern, but that changed in 2020. The company confirmed it would not release a T-variant to end the year and instead will jump right to its next flagship phones. Presumably, the upcoming OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 10 Pro will take on the Galaxy S22 and iPhone 14.

If the company follows tradition, we can expect both a OnePlus 10 and a bigger, better, OnePlus 10 Pro announced sometime in February 2022. Then, like the OnePlus 9 Pro, it’ll arrive a few weeks later.

While initial leaks and rumors said, March, we recently learned the OnePlus 10 Pro design is finalized, already being tested, and could arrive as soon as January or early February to better compete with Samsung.

Last year, the company released its OnePlus 9 series in March, starting at $729, with the high-end OnePlus 9 Pro starting at $969 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. More expensive models can with more RAM and 256GB of space.

We expect the company to follow the same recipe next year with this new phone. Plus, new leaks from famed leakster @Onleaks and the website Zouton seem to back that up. They report that two models are on the way, with similar screen sizes, camera upgrades, and pricing.

Lately, OnePlus has increased the price of its phones with each new release, and we could see another jump this year. On the flip side, Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are more affordable than ever, which may put pressure on OnePlus to return to its more affordable ways.

Either way, expect an impressive new OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro sometime near February, with pricing anywhere from $729-$1,069 — give or take a few dollars. For the record, OnePlus has yet to make any announcement.

The Design: A Familiar Look, In Several Ways

While we don’t have any images of the physical phone itself, several leaks have already begun floating around. According to @Onleaks on Twitter, who has a highly accurate history of leaking phones ahead of the release, the images shown in this post are what we can expect. These leaked OnePlus 10 Pro images are based on real pictures from a prototype device, but that means we could see a few minor changes between now and the official launch date.

As you can see, the OnePlus 10 Pro features a very familiar look in several ways.

It is familiar because it looks like almost any other OnePlus phone, only with the camera bump getting a slight overhaul and moving to the left side with the metal frame wrapping around the edge of the phone. Additionally, if this looks familiar, it’s because Samsung’s Galaxy S21 line has the exact same styling.

It looks like OnePlus will ditch the 4th camera in favor of three bigger, better cameras and stick to an under-display fingerprint scanner. Of course, there’s also a hole-punch front-facing camera and not an under-screen camera, as that technology is still a work in progress. Still, it looks like a stylish and classy device capable of competing with the best of the best.

Spec Talk: Lots of Power

Snapdragon 895

We expect OnePlus to use the latest and greatest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the OnePlus 10 lineup as with previous releases. While this year’s chipset has plenty to offer, we expect most flagship phones in 2022 to come with the more powerful Snapdragon 898. It could also be known as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Snapdragon 895.

The name isn’t important. What is essential is this latest SoC should deliver over 15% improved performance, fast 5G speeds, improved multitasking and AI, excellent camera features, fast charging, and much more. Unfortunately, we don’t have a complete list of specs nor much information about the cheaper OnePlus 10, but here’s a bullet list of potential stats.

OnePlus 10 Pro Specs (Rumored)

  • 6.67-inch Curved 120Hz Fluid AMOLED Display
  • Snapdragon 898 or 895 SoC
  • 8/12GB of RAM, 128/256/512GB Storage
  • 163.0 x 73.8 x 8.5mm (10.3m including rear camera bump)
  • Large 5,000 mAh battery
  • Triple Rear Cameras: 64MP main, 8MP Telephoto, 50MP Ultrawide (16MP front)
  • Android 12
  • 125W Fast Charging
  • More

Onleaks himself didn’t share any specs for the device, but based on previous models, early leaks, and the report from Zouton, OnePlus’ higher-end phone should have a spec sheet similar to what’s detailed above. We still don’t have a clear picture of the cameras but expect improvements.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any other details about the front camera or other information to round things out. However, we expect to learn more soon as this phone will compete directly with the Pixel 6 Pro, Galaxy S22 Ultra, and eventually, the iPhone 14 Pro. So much so that OnePlus could launch it 2-3 weeks earlier than usual to try and gain an advantage.

The Cameras: Still Hasselblad, But Less is More

OnLeaks

Another big unknown right now is the camera situation. OnePlus is going big on the camera array with that large stovetop-style design. However, you’ll quickly notice the OnePlus 10 Pro only has three cameras instead of four like the OnePlus 9 Pro.

Leaks suggest OnePlus will ditch the largely pointless 2MP monochrome camera and use that room to deliver three excellent and improved camera sensors. The OnePlus 10 Pro will reportedly sport a triple rear camera setup from Hasselblad, potentially increasing the primary camera to 64 or even 108-Megapixels, and feature an improved 5x optical zoom.

These days most of the competition offers compelling zoom lenses, like the Galaxy S21 Ultra or iPhone 13 Pro Max. So, it only makes sense that OnePlus will do something similar for its next-gen phone in 2022. Bigger isn’t always better, especially when it comes to megapixel counts, so we’ll have to wait and see. Plus, the partnership with Hasselblad will still be a thing, which should help.

We’re hoping the combination of Android 12, new ISP improvements in the Snapdragon 898, and these new cameras will deliver an improved experience.

A Few Other Details

It also looks like OnePlus could introduce an even faster 125W fast charging technology for these phones. We’ve seen upwards of 120-watts, but this often requires a dual battery setup and a specific charging brick. So while that’s great, it might not be a huge draw for the majority of current OnePlus users looking to upgrade.

For now, we’re expecting a Black and Green OnePlus 10 Pro and potentially a Silver variant as well. Both phones should offer 5G speeds in the US from carriers like T-Mobile and come unlocked to work elsewhere.

In closing, we think that OnePlus will launch the new 10 and 10 Pro sometime in early 2022, likely around late February. These phones will run Android 12 or even Android 12L, offer several improvements, all-day battery life, fast charging, and a powerful camera setup. But until the company comes out and announces something, all we have are leaks and rumors.

We will keep an eye out for more leaks or photos and update this article as new OnePlus 10 Pro details emerge. So bookmark this page or join our free newsletter to keep up with the latest OnePlus leaks and rumors.
