Today at ProSieben the finale for “Beauty & the Nerd” is taking place. In keeping with this, we chatted with the show’s candidates about the show and animes.

That was fast! The grand finale of “Beauty & The Nerd” will take place at ProSieben this evening at 8:15 pm (Thursday, Sep 9th). Fittingly, we chatted with some nerds from the show about their motivation for the reality show and their favorite animes. Have fun with the interviews!

Why did you take part in “Beauty & the Nerd?

I checked it out and thought I would fit in there because of the way I did it, but I didn’t apply at first. After I noticed that two friends were still applying, I applied for it. Unfortunately, in the end, only me was taken from the three of us.

Has your time at BATN shaped and changed you, and if so, in what way?

In general, I can say that I am still the same person as before. But I took something important from it: self-confidence! Before that I was a little shy, but through all the nice people (both nerds and beauties) I learned that I can be more out of myself and that I should be less worried.

Do you still have contact with the other beauties and nerds after the end, and if so, which ones in particular?

Yes, with some more and with some less. I can say that we nerds (unfortunately with the exception of Markus and Jeremy) have come together to form a streaming group called “TecNeet”. We not only stream every day on our Twitch Channel, but also try to go to one or the other convention.

Which candidate is remembered particularly negatively?

I think everyone can imagine that Julien, with his kissing action and how it then developed, stuck in my memory negatively. But it was not only the rash actions of him, but also how he apologized.

What was your favorite moment at BATN?

What was my favorite moment is very difficult to say. I loved the whole time and the people. But if I had to decide for a moment, it would be when I made Meike a “fire devil”. (laughs)
To this day, I still say that too little blush was applied.

Since you’re a fan yourself – which anime series do you like best?

“The world god only knows”. Keima as a character! How he can simply put himself into roles on command has just reminded me a lot of myself. I could identify with him really well.

Would you like to give the anime / manga community something else to take along?

I was at Beauty and the Nerd as a “nerd” but like my beauty Wiktoria said: “Nerd or beauty, everyone just has their own hobbies and preferences and you should follow them, no matter what society says. Just be yourself and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. “

How do you remember Viktoria? Did you even develop feelings for her during the time you were together?

Wiktoria is a very special woman. She is an emotion bomb. Sometimes in the negative, but above all in the positive direction. She always approached me and my hobbies without prejudice and also tried seriously to understand me and how I am.

Why did you take part in “Beauty & the Nerd?

What drove me to “Beauty & the Nerd” was a friendly push from friends. And I found nothing more abstract than finding myself in such a surreal situation.

Has your time at BATN shaped and changed you, and if so, in what way?

I have definitely had memorable experiences, but not to the extent that my person would not be recognized.

Do you still have contact with the other beauties and nerds after the end, and if so, which ones in particular?

My personal permanence is not the most pronounced, so unfortunately most of the participants are not only out of sight, but also out of mind. But here and there I try not to appear completely submerged.

Which candidate is remembered particularly negatively?

I was a little disappointed with Julien’s appearance. Unfortunately, in some situations he was a bit blind to interpersonal matters.

What was your favorite moment at BATN?

My favorite moment was when I realized that despite my nerves growing and visibly fewer opponents, everyone was still cool with each other. Apart from the obvious competitive behavior, everyone still preferred to spin around with each other than to be a spider enemy.

Since you’re a fan yourself – which anime series do you like best?

My favorite anime series are: “Assassination Classroom”, “Food Wars”, “Yuri on Ice”, “Claymore” and “Kiss him, not me”.

Would you like to give the anime / manga community something else to take along?

I want to urge the anime / manga community to be less toxic to each other. Fiction is fiction, you don’t have to tear yourself apart about that.

What was it like for you to be the only female nerd? Did you feel that you were favored or disadvantaged in any way?

For me, being the only nerd was no problem. In many nerd areas it is very common that women are less represented. Of course, I didn’t expect the nerds to be into me to some extent, but that was quickly cleared up. Overall, I didn’t feel like I was ahead or disadvantaged, except maybe that the difference in size meant that I sometimes had disadvantages in terms of speed and, above all, of the stairs.

Since you’re a fan yourself – which anime series do you like best?

In itself I like a lot of anime, especially often individual characters, but “Nisekoi”, “Food Wars” and “Fairy Tail” are definitely my favorites!

Would you like to give the anime / manga community something else to take along?

Don’t be afraid to love anime and manga and always be yourself!

Why did you decide to include Emilia on the show and are there any other “Dakimakuras” that are close to your heart?

Emilia is actually my only “Dakimakura” so far, because I like her best of all. She has long white hair, is super beautiful, and my favorite element is the ice cream. It will probably not be the only one in the future, but it will definitely be my most important one. And I wanted to show it to everyone – Team Emilia!
