#Drunk driver allegedly hits five NYPD officers on Staten Island

An allegedly drunken pickup-truck driver struck five NYPD cops on Sunday as they were setting up for a Memorial Day parade on Staten Island, police and law-enforcement sources said.

The officers — at least three in plainclothes — were putting up barriers for the Monday festivities at Livermore and Forest avenues when they were struck at around 9:45 a.m., police said.

Four were taken to Richmond University Medical Center with minor injuries. One refused medical attention.

The driver, identified by police as Brian Manning, 39, who lives in the New Brighton section, remained on the scene.

He was charged with DWI, reckless assault, driving without a license and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test, police said.

Photos taken by the Staten Island Advance show a teal pickup truck that appeared to have hit a telephone pole.
