Dr. Dre has denounced Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s use of his 2001 song “Still D.R.E.” in a video she shared on social media celebrating Kevin McCarthy’s election as speaker of the House. In a statement shared with TMZ, Dre said, “I don’t license my music to politicians, especially someone as divisive and hateful as this one.”

Dr. Dre’s attorney, Howard E. King, confirmed that he had contacted the Republican congresswoman from Georgia demanding that she cease the unauthorized use of the music. The video, posted on January 9 and captioned “It’s time to begin … and they can’t stop what’s coming,” has since been removed from Twitter.

“You are wrongfully exploiting this work through the various social media outlets to promote your divisive and hateful political agenda,” King wrote to the politician. “Demand is hereby made that you cease and desist from any further unauthorized use of [Dr. Dre’s] music.”

Greene is a hardline Trump ally who has given a platform to antisemitic, white supremacist and far-right conspiracy theories, as well as supporting the QAnon conspiracy theory. She was first elected to Congress in 2020. Shortly after her election her Twitter account suspended after spreading misinformation about COVID-19.
