#Disney’s LOKI SEASON 1 FINALE REVIEW » OmniGeekEmpire

Well, that was quite the finale huh? Loki has set the stage for the Marvel Cinematic universe course and oh man, am I hyped for Spider-Man, Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange films because it’s multiverse time!

After stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an alternate version of Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence due to being a “time-variant”, or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat. Loki ends up trapped in his own crime thriller, traveling through time. That’s the premise of this show, that opened up so many doors, it’s insane.

Loki’s growth is one I’m very curious about. After being betrayed one last time by someone like Sylvie’s going to really affect him, possibly sending him even deeper into his old ways, and I’m really interested to see that happen. Maybe it’s just me but I can’t quite see Loki as a good guy, no matter how many times this series tries to tell me otherwise. For me, that’s like Thanos turning good in the end, it just doesn’t work. Sorry, Loki! But you are more than welcome to prove me wrong.

I have to say, Loki for me was a bit of a rollercoaster. There were episodes that I really enjoyed like episodes 1 and 2 but others that didn’t really didn’t quite catch my interest or live up to the hype built by the previous episode. However, overall Loki had been a blast to watch. Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino really carried this series well, executing and dominating every scene they’re in. It’s a story about self-acceptance and dealing with self-hate which was really done well. I’m starting to see what Marvel is doing with all these series. Anyways, every episode was giving us clues to Kang’s arrival. Kang is a character that I will admit, I’ve heard of and seen of him, yet can barely remember any notable thing that he’s done. Which makes it all the more interesting to see what they’ll do with the character. He may not be Thanos but written well, could prove to be just as dangerous.

Jonathan Majors as “Kang”, or He who remains wasn’t my cup of tea I will be honest! His dialogue after a few seconds did captivate me, and actually made it tough to figure out if he was lying or not but, I dunno after weeks of hyping up this mysterious bad guy pulling the string, I wasn’t expecting an “energetic joyful” guy. Knowing to do that he’s just one of many versions of Knag, gives me hope that we’ll see a more serious and frightening Kang display his true prowess upon the multi-verse. And with the tease of a multiverse war, this, in turn, opens up doors to bring back the likes of Captain America, Black Panther, Iron Man, and many more famous and iconic heroes, while replacing the actors who played them. Yeah, as much as I’d like to see Robert Doweney Jr back as Iron Man, I doubt he’d want to stick around. Of course, then there’s the X-men and the Fantastic four that are missing and bound to return. So many opportunities for an epic, possible “secret wars”!

Overall, I will say that Loki did what it set out to do, tell an engrossing story that has opened up literally a million doors for infinite possibilities.
