#Disney+ To Stream Wandance, Medalist in 2025

Disney+ has picked up the Wandance and Medalist anime adaptations for streaming. A new visual for the former, which will be a Disney+ exclusive SVOD-wise, was also released.

The Medalist streaming announcement did not mention the exact premiere date for the show, only mentioning January 2025. In Japan, Medalist is set to begin broadcasting on January 4 (effectively January 5 at 1:30 AM JST),

Wandance was announced in August with a 2025 release window, and the Disney+ announcement doesn’t provide any updates on that.

Medalist adapts the Kodansha-published manga by Tsurumaikada and is being directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto (The Tale of the Outcasts, Nekopara) at ENGI. Kodansha USA describes the manga as:

Tsukasa, whose dreams were crushed. Inori, left to fend for herself. These two share a dream…and their tenacity may be the only thing that sees them through. Their destination? The ice…on the world’s stage!

Wandance is based on the manga by Coffee and is a Madhouse and Cyclone Graphics co-production, with the dancer RIEHATA involved as dance producer. Kodansha USA describes the manga as:

Kaboku Kotani is starting high school, and he plans to do what he’s always done: go along with his friends, keep quiet, and not to draw too much attention to himself. After all, it’s hard enough to get by with a stutter like his—why make things worse by standing out from the crowd? But then he sees another first-year, Hikari Wanda, dancing like no one is watching—or like she doesn’t care who sees her. It makes Kaboku wonder: Could he reach that same freedom? To find his way to Wanda, he does something he never thought he could: He joins the dance club. After all, every routine begins with a single step, right?
