#Destiny 2 Removes “The Forsaken” Expansion
Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, has stated that the Forsaken expansion of the game will be removed from next year. This will coincide with the arrival of the next new expansion, The Witch Queen.

While it is still available on the Steam platform, the decision to remove the expansion on the 22nd of February 2022 has been made by Bungie. Following this move, it has been announced that the expansion will be made free from the 7th of December till the next expansion pack arrives.

Once removed, the Forsaken expansion will enter the Destiny Content Vault, the DCV for Destiny 2. This is in addition to several other Year 4 content. Bungie has clarified that, however, not all content of Forsaken will be removed.

The Proving Grounds, Battlegrounds, and the Warden of None strike will stay back in the game. Battlegrounds and strikes will be combined to form the Vanguard Operations, which will be available to all players for free.

In a blog post, Bungie explained the reasons for the vaulting of the Forsaken expansion:

“Vaulting this content will allow us the space to launch The Witch Queen expansion and its new Throne World destination, as well as new features like weapon crafting, the new Legendary difficulty campaign option, the new Glaive weapon archetype, plus all the additional content we have planned for the four new Seasons to come starting in February.”

The content vault that Bungie has introduced has proved to be quite interesting. Certain aspects of the game such as the Vault of Glass and the Cosmodrome have been re-introduced. There are also plans to introduce raids, Crucible maps from Destiny 2, and the original Destiny for Year 5.

While some players might not be as satisfied with the removal of the expansion, it might just be time for them to experience the newer things that Bungie has planned for them.
