Crunchyroll has announced that it will simulcast the 2023 anime Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Nidoman tosu ~. The show will be streamed in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

The anime is based on the Kadokawa-published Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Nidoman tosu ~ manga by Katarina and Ryousuke Fuji, which in turn is based on the web novel by Katarina. Kodansha describes the manga as:

Second-year high school student Rakuro Hizutome is interested in one thing only: finding “shitty games” and beating the crap out of them. His gaming skills are second to none, and no game is too bad for him to enjoy. So when he’s introduced to the new VR game Shangri-La Frontier, he does what he does best—min-maxes and skips the prologue to jump straight into the action. But can even an expert gamer like Rakuro discover all the secrets that Shangri-La Frontier hides…?

The staff of Shangri-La Frontier includes Toshiyuki Kubooka (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) as director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) as series composer and scriptwriter, Hiroki Ikeshita (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina storyboarder and episode director) as assistant director, Ayumi Kurashima (Nomad: Megalo Box 2 character designer) as character designer and chief animation director, and Satoshi Sakai (The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed By Light action animation director) as action and effects animator.

Other credits include Takagi Masato (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) as color designer, Inspired as the background art company, Hikaru Yamamoku (ONE PIECE Vol.100/Ep.1000 Celebration Movies “WE ARE ONE.” assistant photography director) as photography director, and MONACA (Assassins Pride) as music composer. C2C is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Yuuma Uchida as Senraku/Rakuro Hizutome, Azumi Waki as Saiga-0/Rei Saiga, Youko Hikasa as Arthur Pencilgon/Towa Amane, Makoto Koichi as Oicazzo/Rei Omi, Rina Hidaka as Emul, and Akio Ootsuka as Weiss Ash.

The Shangri-La Frontier manga began in 2020 and has nine tankoubon volumes as of July 2022. It is serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine and published under the KC Deluxe label. Meanwhile, the web novel began in 2017 and is published on Shousetsuka ni Narou.
