The Comic Market Preparatory Committee announced on the Comiket website yesterday that the next event, which was previously scheduled for four days at Tokyo Big Sight over the Golden Week holiday in 2021, will now only be held over three days due to the lack of staff available while the coronavirus pandemic is ongoing as well as other factors. The circles that were scheduled for the now-canceled fourth day will be redistributed throughout the rest of the three days.
Doujin circles will be happening over the three days at Comiket 99, from May 2 to May 4, with corporate booths only available on May 2 and 3. Aomi Exhibition Hall, which held the corporate booths while construction for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was happening at Tokyo Big Sight, will not be in use. In November, the Preparatory Committee announced they are aiming for approximately 10,000 people per day for the event, much less than the 100,000's attendees that usually walk through the Tokyo Big Sight doors, with both circle participants and attendees included in that number. A lottery will be held for places at the event.
