Convention-free week! Enjoy!

Healthy after COVID-19 concerns paused their season, the Cardinals have yet to play up to their potential. They lost an unhealthy four straight before defeating the Indians on Sunday and are visiting Cincinnati on Monday. Dakota Hudson (0-2, 3.32 ERA) is still winless after winning 16 games last year. Pitched well last week, scattering three hits over six innings in a victory over the Royals.

He’s matched against the Reds’ Anthony DeSclafani (1-1, 5.71 ERA), who is back from paternity leave. He threw a couple of bullpen sessions this week and was deemed ready to go after a 10-day break. DeSclafani gave up 11 runs over 6 ¹/₃ innings before heading home. This may be an ideal spot for Hudson to put “1” on the left side of the ledger. Play 20 units on the Cards.

A win-win! Giants squashed the Snakes 4-1. Close game until San Francisco scored three in the eighth inning. Johnny Cueto was sharp, three hits over 6 ²/₃ . Wasn’t as close in Colorado. Padres had 17 hits, five homers and clubbed the Rockies 13-2. Chris Paddack threw six shutout innings. Win-win takes us to -662 mccoveys.
