#Cardcaptor Sakura Anime 25th Anniversary Project Announced

“Cardcaptor Sakura Anime 25th Anniversary Project Announced”

A project to celebrate the Cardcaptor Sakura anime’s 25th anniversary has been announced, with the project encompassing several collaboration plans.

One of these collaborations is with Hello Kitty’s Sanrio. Currently, two types of goods have been revealed: a miniature figure collection (roughly 4 cm in height) and a lunch cloth. The figures will go on sale in June through capsule vending machines, while the lunch cloth is slated for sometime in the summer. More goods will be revealed later.

The other collaborations, which began in March, are with EJ Anime Hotel and THE GUEST cafe&diner respectively. The former involves a themed room experience, dinner course, and original goods, while the latter offers a special menu and goods. EJ Anime Hotel is also offering the Cardcaptor Sakura collaboration experience through some other hotels.

The EJ Anime Hotel collaboration will run until June 30. For the collaboration cafe, it will run in Nagoya until April 25 and in Osaka until May 15.

Based on the 1996 Kodansha-published magical girl manga by CLAMP, the Cardcaptor Sakura anime began in 1998 with Madhouse as the animation production company and Morio Asaka as director. The initial Cardcaptor Sakura: Clow Card series was followed by 1999’s Cardcaptor Sakura: Sakura Card and two movies in 1999 and 2000 respectively. Asaka and Madhouse returned again for 2018’s Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, an adaptation of CLAMP’s 2016 manga of the same name.
