The previously announced Digimon Adventure 02 movie has been revealed to have the title of Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning. Two new characters and their respective voice actors were also announced.

Those two characters are Rui Owada and the digimon Ukkomon. Megumi Ogata is voicing Rui, while Rie Kugimiya is voicing Ukkomon.

Additionally, it was announced that the voice actors of the Digimon Adventure 02 characters from the Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna will reprise their roles for Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning. They include Fukujuro Katayama as Daisuke Motomiya, Junko Noda as Veemon, Arthur Lounsbery as Ken Ichijoji, Naozumi Takahashi as Wormmon, Ayaka Asai as Miyako Inoue, Kouichi Touchika as Hawkmon, Yoshitaka Yamaya as Iori Hida, Megumi Urawa as Armadillomon, Junya Enoki as Takeru Takaishi, Miwa Matsumoto as Patamon, M.A.O as Hikari Kagami, and Yuka Tokumitsu as Tailmon.

Images of the 2012 versions of the Digimon Adventure 02 cast and the new characters have been released as well.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna‘s Tomohisa Taguchi (director) and Akatsuki Yamatoya (scriptwriter) are working on the new Digimon Adventure 02 movie. Yumeta Company is the animation production company.

The announcement trailer from 2021 contains the following narration:

When Veemon and I were preparing ramen, a giant Digitama appeared in the sky. Then I met someone who has a Digivice, but no Digimon with him. And he said… “I’m the first person to ever partner with a Digimon.”
