#BioWare Former GM Opens New Studio

Casey Hudson, Mass Effect Director and BioWare former General Manager, has now built his own studio to produce games independently. Less than a year ago, Casey Hudson announced his decision to retire from BioWare. Just recently, he shared details of opening a new studio through his Twitter handle.

Humanoid Studio

He shared the details of the Humanoid Studio today. He will lead the studio as CEO and the newly minted website confirmed the news of its founding. Hudson will take charge of the studio and will run the studio with the help of some colleagues.

The Canada-based studio will have its branches in British Columbia, Alberta. Due to Covid 19 pandemic, the arrangements are to work from home. However, transitions will be made for sites.

Hudson stressed that Humanoid Studios will focus on “bringing innovation and artistry to players through an all-new IP,” but neither of the newly minted websites has shared much information. Hudson is also known for being both a Stars Wars producer and a director.

15 Years of Bioware

The journey of Hudson with BioWare remains interesting. He had given more than 15 years of his life in Bioware. He started in 2000 in Bioware and initially left in 2014. Hudson then returned and rejoined in 2017. He eventually left in December 2020 alongside Mark Darrah and Dragon Age.

Hudson is not the only former BioWare game developer who had struck out on their own. At the start of 2020, Wizards of the Coast also announced its independent decision.
