#Bike trail from NYC to Canada set to open by the end of the year

Hearty New Yorkers will soon be able to pedal from the Big Apple to the Great White North.

The 750-mile Empire State Trail — which forms a T-shape and runs along the Hudson River and west from Albany to Buffalo — is set to open by the end of the year.

Trekkers can plan their trips using a new online map that delineates which parts of the journey are on separated paths or regular roads.

About 400 miles of the trail pre-date Cuomo’s 2017 plan to merge them all into one big “Empire State Trail,” officials said.

The trail officially opens at the end of this year, Cuomo’s office has said.

State officials have partnered with 200 breweries along the route to offer rewards to travelers.

“Tourism and recreation are at the foundation of our local economies,” Cuomo said in an Oct. 23 statement.

“As we near the completion of the Empire State Trail by the end of this year, this program will both benefit local residents and spur economic activity in communities across the state.”
