#Best PGA Tour bets for the Wyndham Championship

PGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa, like many of the top players, will return next week for the opening event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs at The Northern Trust. However, there are several top 30 players in Greensboro, N.C., this week for Wyndham Championship.

Webb Simpson won his first PGA Tour event here in 2011 and has back-to-back runner-ups and a third dating back the past three years. Simpson, the 10/1 co-favorite at William Hill, played his college golf at nearby Wake Forest and his third child is named Wyndham.

Brooks Koepka (10/1) makes his first appearance here since 2015 but does so perhaps after eating a big slice of humble pie. Koepka was two off the lead going into Sunday at the PGA and was fairly dismissive of the competitors either ahead of or around him on the leaderboard. He shot 74 (4-over) and tied for the second-worst round in the field to finish a disappointing T-29th.

Patrick Reed (15/1), Tommy Fleetwood (15/1), Paul Casey (20/1) and Justin Rose (20/1) are near the top of the odds board. But there are plenty of players at bigger prices who could grab the trophy in North Carolina.

Harris English (33/1)

Finished tied for 19th at the PGA Championship, his seventh top 20 or better result in his past eight events. English calls the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head his favorite stop on tour, and there is a strong correlation between the RBC and the Wyndham. Plus, though this week’s field has quality at the top, it is not nearly as top-heavy as the Heritage field was. This could be his opportunity to break through this season.

Joaquin Niemann (50/1)

Missed the cut last week at the PGA, but that’s not always a bad thing. Five of the past 10 winners at the Wyndham either missed the cut or withdrew the week or event before. Niemann finished tied for fifth at the RBC Heritage earlier this summer and shot 128 (14-under) on the weekend. The 21 year-old from Chile also fits the Donald Ross course correlation angle with a T-fifth at the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.

Russell Henley (60/1)

Henley rates fourth on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Approach. Justin Thomas, Morikawa and Casey are the only players that rate better on approach shots, and they are three of the best pure ball strikers on the planet.

The weakness last weekend was clearly the putter, which cost him a little more than four strokes overall for the week at Harding Park. Nevertheless, those flat stick woes could end in short order with a return to the Bermudagrass. Henley has long been one of the better putters on the PGA Tour when he’s on the Bermuda.

Maverick McNealy (80/1)

There aren’t really any statistical angles or course form that point to McNealy, but he does have inspiration. His college rival, Morikawa, just won the PGA. And McNealy’s girlfriend, Danielle Kang, is the No.2 ranked woman’s golfer in the world. His motivation has always been a bit unknown since he’s the son of a billionaire, but you would have to think the events of last weekend perhaps lit a fire under McNealy.

Even-longer-shots to keep an eye on: Henrik Norlander (80/1), Kristoffer Ventura (100/1) and Luke List (125/1).
