After leaving the Cincinnati Bengals’ training camp Tuesday amid news that his father is missing, cornerback Mackensie Alexander was arrested in Florida on one count of battery.

According to jail records, the 26-year-old Alexander was arrested Tuesday by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and was still in custody as of Wednesday morning. An arrest report says Alexander and another man, Evins Clement, went with law enforcement to the victim’s home to “discuss an incident that had transpired the day prior,” according to ESPN.

Once the officer left the scene, Alexander and Clement attempted to get information about the incident but the man would not get in their vehicle, per the report. Clement then held the man down as Alexander allegedly hit the man in the face, causing minor injuries.

Local officers identified Alexander and Clement’s vehicle and the two men were stopped, arrested and charged with battery after the victim said he wanted to press charges, police say.

“Mackensie is distraught and concerned about his father,” attorney Brian Pakett, who is representing Alexander along with attorney Stacey Richman, said in a statement. “He’s a loving son and a caring son. His sole concern in this matter right now is finding his father.”

Jean Odney Alexandre, Alexander’s father (the two spell their last names differently), was reported missing after he and another man went to Okeechobee County Monday to pick berries in a prairie, according to the town’s Sheriff’s Office. The 65-year-old was left behind and was reported missing late Monday night. Florida authorities are still searching for Alexandre.

Alexander signed a one-year deal worth a guaranteed $1.5 million this summer with Cincinnati after four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He was at practice Monday, but the team was off Tuesday and is expected to resume Wednesday.
