#Baki Boys’ Love Book Gets Live-Action TV Treatment on WOWOW

Fans who appreciate the gentler side of Baki, a long-running and hyper-violent martial arts manga by Keisuke Itagaki, will soon be able to look at the series in an entirely new way, because “Grappler Baki” wa BL dewanaika to 1-Nichi 30-jikan 300-bi Kangaeta Shoujo no Kiroku (“The Chronicle of a Maiden Who Thought that Grappler Baki is BL 30 Hours a Day for 300 Days”), a non-fiction book by sociologist and BL scholar Junko Kaneda, is being adapted into a fictionalized TV drama that will broadcast on WOWOW in September of 2021.

The live-action TV drama is entitled Grappler Baki wa BL dewanaika to Kangaesuzuketa Shoujo no Kiroku (“The Chronicle of a Maiden Who Continued to Think that Grappler Baki is BL”), and the main staff for it includes:

In Grappler Baki wa BL dewanaika to Kangaesuzuketa Shoujo no Kiroku, actor Honoka Matsumoto (pictured above) stars as Akane Kojima, an unassuming women who works as a clerk in a stationery store and who is secretly a huge fujoshi. Kojima discovers the Baki series by Keisuke Itagaki and falls in love with its dramatic presentation of muscular martial arts men, but her simple life grows complicated when she gets caught up in the troubles of Takeno (a junior employee at her workplace), Kajiwara (Kojima’s boss), and Shibamoto (her former classmate).

Grappler Baki wa BL dewanaika to Kangaesuzuketa Shoujo no Kiroku is scheduled to broadcast in Japan on WOWOW beginning in September of 2021. The series will run for 7 episodes.
