#Bakemonogatari Manga Gets Special Shaft-Produced Anime PV

The Bakemonogatari manga by Oh!great, which released its 16th volume on February 17, has received a special Shaft-produced anime trailer.

The three-minute trailer is directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, who served as chief director and co-series composer on most of the Monogatari anime and helmed Zoku Owarimonogatari. Akio Watanabe (Monogatari Series character designer) is the animation character designer and animation director. The character designs are based on Oh!great’s manga designs, which are in turn based on the light novel illustrations by VOFAN.

Other staff include Yukihiro Miyamoto (Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story Season 2 -The Eve of Awakening- director, Kizumonogatari Part 3: Reiketsu co-unit director) as unit director, Hisaharu Iijima (Zoku Owarimonogatari) as art director, and Rei Egami (Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story Season 2 -The Eve of Awakening-, Koyomimogatari) as photography director. The trailer also makes use of Satoru Kousaki’s score for the Bakemonogatari anime.

Meanwhile, reprising their roles from the Monogatari series anime are Hiroshi Kamiya as Koyomi Araragi, Chiwa Saito as Hitagi Senjogahara, Emiri Kato as Mayoi Hachikuji, Miyuki Sawashiro as Suruga Kanbaru, Kana Hanazawa as Nadeko Sengoku, and Yui Horie as Tsubasa Hanekawa.

The Kodansha-published Bakemonogatari manga, which began in 2018, is serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine and published under the KC Deluxe label. It is based on the Bakemonogatari light novels by Nisio Isin, which began in 2005 and are part of the still ongoing Monogatari light novel series.

Kodansha describes the manga as:

A team-up made in manga heaven! The wildly popular Monogatari novel series by renowned bestselling author NISIOISIN has now been reimagined into a knockout manga adapation by none other than legendary artist Oh!Great (Tenjo Tenghe, Air Gear)!

One day, high-school student Koyomi Araragi catches a girl named Hitagi Senjougahara when she trips. But—much to his surprise—she doesn’t weigh anything. At all. She says an encounter with a so-called “crab” took away all her weight …

Monsters have been here since the beginning.

Always.

Everywhere.

The Bakemonogatari anime first aired in 2009, kicking off a series of anime adaptations that ended with 2018’s Zoku Owarimonogatari.
