Turns out he wasn’t snakebitten.

An Australian man pulled over for speeding was let off the hook when cops learned he was en route to a hospital over fears he was bitten by a snake he killed while driving.

The man, identified only as Jimmy, was spotted by police last month going 76 mph on Dawson Highway in Queensland, police said in a press release.

“A brown snake or a tiger snake is in the back of the ute,” Jimmy told the officer that pulled him over, according to body camera footage released by Queensland Police.

“I think it’s bitten me, it was in the car with me,” the driver said.

Jimmy told the officer that moments earlier, as he was driving about 60 mph, he spotted the creature, later identified as a venomous eastern brown snake, slithering between his legs.

“The more I moved my legs … it just started to wrap around me,” he said. “Its head just started striking at the [driver’s seat], between my legs.”

Believing he had been bitten, Jimmy managed to kill the snake with a knife and planned to take it to the hospital with him, the release said.

The police body camera footage showed the dead snake in the back of Jimmy’s truck.

The officer called for an ambulance, telling the dispatcher the driver is “pretty panicky” but “conscious and breathing at the moment.”

It was determined the snake did not bite the man, but he still avoided the speeding ticket.

“It was pretty bloody, terrifying. I’m not going to lie,” the driver told the cop. “I’ve never been so happy to see red and blue lights.”
