Apple won’t Stop Adding New Security Features for iOS 14 after iOS 15 Update — Confirmed

Apple includes new security features after each iOS update. The latest iOS 14 devices have high-end privacy options, like iCloud Private Relay and Precise Location. These iPhone features allow users to increase their web security. With the App Privacy button, now you can check which apps access the device data.

More than 60k+ iPhones were hacked last year. And, this number will most likely decrease this year with the advanced iOS 14’s security features. iPhone users need to upgrade their iOS to minimise the security risks. Starting from iPhone 11 to iPhone XS, iOS 14 supports every old to new device.

However, you need sufficient storage to install the new iOS security update. Uninstall the unwanted programs and files to free up space.

Do you know what the best part of the iOS 14 update is? You can still use it after Apple releases the iOS 15 update. The developers announced this at Apple’s last online video conference.

iOS 14 — What are its New Security Features?

Apple has always emphasised increasing the iPhone’s security. It added many next-generation security features to iOS 14. It will help the users to prevent access from unauthorised users.

Moreover, third-party apps can no longer track your online activities. Contact iPhone Repair Dubai if you are facing technical glitches after the iOS update.

You can now store sensitive data in the iPhone more safely. Apple has also resolved iOS 13’s bugs and security patches on this new update. Open the iPhone Settings, and tap on “Software Update” to install iOS 14 in the iPhone 12 or later version. And, the users can explore the following security features in the next iOS 14 updates:

1.   Safari Gets a New Privacy Report Feature

Apple introduced a new security feature in Safari in iOS14. It blocks the cross-site cookies from tracking the browser data. And, you can enable this option from the Settings menu.

Didn’t get the “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking” feature? Update Safari and use the browser without losing the important data.

Additionally, the iPhone owners will get a Privacy Report page in the browser. It provides in-depth details about the tracker. Here, you can even check the list of malicious sites. Safari will now show you the number of hackers who tried to access the network. Press the “AA” option of Safari to open the Privacy Report Page.

2.   Limit the App Access with Tracking

Apps like Facebook and Maps are used to track the user’s location, leading to a privacy concern. This is why Apple tried to prevent app tracking in iOS 14. Disable this feature to reduce the potential vulnerabilities. Besides, it sends a permission request to others for tracking location.

Select “Never” if you don’t want to share your location with these apps. But, do you know how to turn off the Tracking option? Open the iPhone, move towards “Privacy”, and wait until the new window appears. Navigate to “Settings” and tap on “Tracking” afterwards. Move the slider from left to right to turn off this option.

3.   Protecting the Clipboard Data Became Easier

Most iPhone users share links or other essential data in Clipboard. And, the hackers can get access to this iOS app, if there isn’t any security lock. Many have faced data breaching instances after adding their confidential data to Clipboard. Thus, Apple secured this application by including an advanced security feature.

iPhone users will now get an alert message when hackers try to steal the data. Furthermore, you can choose which apps can read the Clipboard data. iOS 14’ “Secure Paste” feature also hides data from the Apple Developers. Open Clipboard, and go to its Settings to enable this feature.

4.   More Focus was Given to Wi-Fi Security

Apple brought a significant change in the iOS 14 update. The developers provided more attention to increasing online security. It added a new “User Private Address” feature in the iPhone’s Settings. Select the wireless network name and click the “i” button to enable this option.

It allows the users to hide their Mac addresses from hackers. A new Mac address will be generated whenever the iPhone connects to the Wi-Fi. Additionally, this will make it difficult for the ISPs to check online activities. Switch from iOS 13 to iOS 14 to increase device protection.

5.   Get Password Recommendations

Apple syncs the password and login credentials of different accounts using iCloud. Do you want to check which accounts are linked with iCloud? Access the iPhone settings and head towards “Password” to do that.

Moreover, the developers added a password detection feature in iOS 14. It will send you a notification whether the password is easy to decode.

However, this security feature is disabled by default. Go to the “Password” section and select “Security Recommendations” to enable it. Apple will show you the list of passwords that hackers can easily assume.

Change those immediately by tapping on the password links. Or, you can also set a new secured password for the iPhone.

6.   Restrict the Camera & Microphone Access

The iOS app requires the user’s permission to use the camera or microphone. But, the third-party apps can use them without your acknowledgement. And, in the latest iOS 14 security update, you can prevent camera and microphone access.

An indicator dot will pop up whenever any app tries to use the camera or microphone. The green dot indicates some apps are using a camera. And, the orange dot on the iPhone screen indicates that an app is using a microphone. This will make it difficult for the apps to access or capture pictures or record audio.

Do you need to know which apps mostly use these functions? Open the iPhone, access the navigation bar and tap on “Control Center”. Here, you can see the apps which use a camera/microphone without sending a request message.

Is Apple Planning to Stop Releasing Security Updates on iOS 14?

Apple recently declared they might not add new security features in iOS 14. Update to iOS 15 if you want to use features, like Protect Mail Activity or Hide My Email. Many iPhone 13 users stick to iOS 14 even after the iOS 15 release. Because the previous update offered more effective security features to the users. However, Apple will no longer allow you to use iOS 14 once you install iOS 15.

Why did Apple make this Decision?

The developers mentioned that staying on iOS 14 was temporary. And, they took this extra time to fix the iOS 15’s bugs and security issues. iPhone users were given the option to upgrade the device to iOS 14.8.1 earlier. But, you can now no longer do that after the iOS 15.2.1 update.

Not providing security updates on iOS 14 will eventually force the users to install iOS 15. And, this could increase the number of iPhones using this latest operating system. More than 72% of iPhone users upgraded to iOS 15 last year. And, Apple is expecting this number will increase by the end of 2022. Go to Apple’s App Store support page and install the latest update for the iPhone now.
