#Aniplus Asia to Simulcast The Promised Neverland Season 2 on January 8

Aniplus Asia has announced the addition of The Promised Neverland Season 2 to their Winter 2021 anime lineup. The premiere will be simulcasted on January 8, 2021, at 02:40 AM (GMT+8), with subsequent episodes to air every Friday at 02:00 AM (GMT+8).

CloverWorks is handling the animation production for the anime. Returning staff include Mamoru Kanbe as director, Toshiya Ono as series composer, Kazuaki Shimada as character designer and chief animation director, and Takahiro Obata as music composer. The manga’s author Kaiu Shirai is joining Toshiya Ono as series composer for the second season.

The first season’s cast will reprise their roles in the second season, with Shin’ichirou Kamio (Ensemble Stars!) and Atsumi Tanezaki (Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai) joining the cast as Sonju and Mujika respectively.

The official website describes The Promised Neverland Season 2 as:

Freedom is beautiful, but brutal.

Fifteen children escape Grace Field House, a false paradise, hoping for a chance at freedom. Instead, they encounter plants and animals they have never before seen, and are chased by demons. The outside world is so beautiful, and yet is almost too cruel to face.

Even so, the children refuse to give up. They are guided in their search for better lives only by a message from Minerva and a pen Norman left behind in order to fulfill their promise to return to the House to save those of their family who are still trapped within.

The anime’s first season first premiered in January 2019. The second season was originally scheduled to air in October 2020, but was delayed to January 2021 due to COVID-19.
