Amazon shows the “Evangelion” films by director Hideaki Anno exclusively on Prime Video!

The online giant Amazon has secured the fourth and final part of Hideaki Anno’s film series “Rebuild of Evangelion” internationally. The latest film “EVANGELION: 3.0 + 1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME” celebrated its premiere in Japan on March 8, 2021 after a few postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film brings the “rebuild” series of the classic series “NEON GENESIS EVANGELION” to a new look with a plot that differs from the series and will be released exclusively outside of Japan on Amazon’s streaming platform Prime Video on August 13, 2021. “3.0 + 1.01” is the new theatrical version of the film with animation corrections, which started in cinemas in Japan on June 12, 2021. The first version of the film by Studio khara is known under the abbreviation “3.0 + 1.0”.

All four films at the same time

Amazon has also secured the rest of the tetralogy in order to be able to present the three previous films on the same day as the finale. The films “EVANGELION: 1.11 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE.”, “EVANGELION: 2.22 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE.” and “EVANGELION: 3.33 YOU CAN (NOT) REDO.” were already released between 2008 and 2013 by Leonine Anime on DVD and Blu-ray, but have not yet been available digitally.

According to Amazon, the online premiere will take place in 240 countries and territories and therefore offers the films in 10 dubbed and subtitled in 28 languages (including German).

Scarred by the Second Impact, the fourth angel attacks Tokyo III and the fate of humanity is in the hands of the special government agency Nerv. Young Shinji Ikari is forced to pilot EVA-01. Misato Katsuragi devises a plan to bundle all of Japan’s electricity into EVA-01’s positron cannon to defeat the angel.
