Classic manga series D.N.Angel published its final chapter in the March 2021 issue of shoujo manga magazine Monthly Asuka today, ending its 23-year run in the magazine. Yukiru Sugisaki, the creator of the series, released two special illustrations of Daisuke Niwa at his alter-ego Dark Mousy on their Twitter account. Monthly Asuka celebrated by having a special "thank you" cover image.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Yukiru Sugisaki created manga series started in the magazine in November 1997 and run monthly until August 2005 when the series went on hiatus. D.N.Angel continued to be on and off in the magazine until May 2018 when the manga finally finished its run.

D.N.Angel has so far released 17 volumes in Japanese, with the 18th volume to be released on March 24. the series used to be licensed for English-speaking audiences by Tokyopop but has since been picked up by Viz Media and released digitally, with 13 volumes currently available. They describe the first volume as such:

 

Daisuke Niwa is an ordinary middle school student with an extraordinary genetic "condition".  Whenever he starts longing for the girl of his dreams, he transforms into the legendary Phantom Thief, Dark! The only way to lift the curse To have his love returned, of course.  But how can Daisuke win the heart of a girl he can't even romance?

 

This hugely popular manga of unrequited love and fantastic adventure makes its way to America at last!

 

To commemorate the final chapter, a special exhibition will be held around May at Marui City Yokohama with drawings from the entire serialization. More details to be announced soon.
