#Mom shows what it’s like to have a night doula for your baby

American mom Brittany Bright shared a video about her night routine with her baby, which includes a night-time postpartum doula (night nanny).

The video, posted to Twitter, shows Bright prepping bottles for her 2-month-old son, and then leaving the baby care to the doula from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Bright captioned the post: “There are zero happenings between 8pm and 6am because I’m usually ASLEEP, OK?”

The mom later added in the comments: “Postpartum Nighttime Doulas do a lot more than just take care of the baby throughout the night.

“It’s important you find one who fits you and your family’s needs!”

The post, which has been viewed 1.5 million times, was bombarded with thousands of comments.

Not that she needed anyone’s permission, but Bright obviously anticipated some backlash — and she got it.

While many applauded her prioritization of her sleep and mental health — and were somewhat envious — others were not so supportive.

‘Financial privilege’

Some viewers of the tweet loved that Bright was making time for herself, but others noted that it takes money to be able to invest in the family with a doula.

“Say you rich without saying you rich,” laughed one commenter.

Some of the nastier comments were deleted, according to other sources.

“The amount of young mothers I know would maintain healthier lives if they could afford this,” one commenter said.

“Doula care from a reproductive/birth justice framework is NOT supposed to be luxurious,” another wrote.

Meanwhile a third posted: “Imagine [if] all mothers had access to services like this.”

Others questioned how Bright was comfortable handing over her parent duties so easily, but she explained the doula had been with her for most of her pregnancy.

Bright later tweeted another video in response to the unexpected direction of the first.

In it, she explains that motherhood is not a competition as to who struggles the most and that she’s “proud” of herself for seeking the help she needs.

“Ask for help,” she said. “There’s nothing wrong with it.”
