#14-year-old boy critically injured in Queens shooting

A 14-year-old boy was shot and critically injured on a Queens street Monday evening, police sources said.

The teen was struck by several bullets, including one to the neck, at about 5 p.m. near 166th Street and Marsden Street in Jamaica, police said.

Police sources said two suspects fired multiple rounds at the victim.

The gunplay follows a violent week that saw a sharp increase in shootings over the same period last year.

From Monday, June 29 through Sunday, 101 people were wounded or killed in 74 shootings citywide, according to police sources.

By comparison, 33 people were struck in 26 incidents during the same period in 2019 — and the last time 100 people or more were shot in the span of a week came in June 1995.

The city saw 18 murders during the week, a 50-percent increase from the same week in 2019, sources said.
