#Ziwe Photographed With George Santos as She Teases YouTube Interview With Ex-Congressman

Earlier this month, comedian Ziwe reached out to George Santos on X (formerly known as Twitter) to ask the disgraced ex-congressman if he would be interested in a pay-per-view interview? “You’d be an iconic guest,” she said in a Dec. 2 post. Santos seemed into the idea, responding a day later with what seemed like an official confirmation, “Let’s do it Ziwe.”

Judging by social media posts from Ziwe and Santos, fans may be able to consider it done.

Ziwe took to Instagram on Monday to share a photo of her on what looks like a set with Santos while he is holding a tan Hermes Birkin bag with cash spilling out of the top and a copy of her new book, Black Friend: Essays. In response to a follower who asked “where do I send my cash,” Ziwe replied that the interview special would be posted on YouTube where it will available “free for THE PEOPLE.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to a rep for Ziwe to confirm those plans and inquire about a release date. Ziwe, known for her sharp, comedic and sometimes combative interview style, has sat across from numerous celebrities on her eponymous Showtime talk show, which ran for two seasons. While she has her own YouTube channel, it has not been updated with any new posts in three years.

Santos teed up the reveal earlier on Monday when he posted, “Exciting day today! Ziwe darling are you ready?” with a hashtag ZiweSantosInterview.

Though Ziwe had stated that it would be her “literal dream” to land an interview with Santos once it was suggested by user named Mike Tague, not all of her 591,000 Instagram followers seem into the idea. While Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira wrote, “Can not wait,” others, like TV personality, advocate and activist Preston Mitchum shared, “It just breaks my heart to see who is platformed while so many others get no or minimal attention.”

Santos has had his fair share as of late. On Dec. 1, he became the first U.S. House member to be expelled in more than 20 years. He is also only the sixth House member in history to be removed by his colleagues. The expulsion marked the end of a congressional career riddled with scandal. Once hailed as a rising star of the Republican party after flipping a district from Democrats last year, Santos became the subject of a scathing ethics report on his conduct after details about his life story were found to be embellished or false. The claims included that he hailed from Jewish ancestors and worked at top Wall Street firms, including Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, along with where he went to college.

Santos also faces a trial next year in New York after being indicted on 23 counts of stealing from his campaign and lying to Congress. He has pleaded not guilty. HBO Films is developing a movie about him based on Mark Chiusano’s book The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos, which was released Nov. 28. Since his expulsion, Santos has seemingly been keeping busy with a new Cameo account.
