Japanese singer-songwriter Yui Nishio has released a music video for her latest digital single song “Selfhug Biglove,” which is now featured as the ending theme for the winter 2023 TV anime Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire. The song was digitally released on January 11.

Yui Nishio made her major debut from Nippon Columbia with her first full album “tasty city” in October 2022. “Selfhug Biglove” is her second anime theme song work following “Iki wo Su Koko de Su Ikiteku,” the opening theme for the fall 2021 TV anime Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside.

The theme of the song is “Take care of yourself and look forward to the day ahead.” The music video depicts how Yui Nishio spends her time facing her natural self in the everyday world, and it is meant to show how the world can look different depending on how you think, and how facing your normal self can lead to loving yourself.

The TV anime adaptation of Hayaken’s fantasy light novel series Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire premiered in Japan on January 9, 2023, and has also been simulcast on Crunchyroll for its members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.  

Crunchyroll describes its story as such:

After living a life devoted to serving his country and people, Inglis’ one wish to be free of a king’s burden and to train was actually heard, but as a beautiful girl! Reborn in the far future as a daughter to renowned knights, Inglis can now focus on mastering the martial arts. A wish has been granted, and Inglis will be on the front lines fulfilling the dream of becoming the strongest knight.
