#Young Thug Fans Salute Rapper’s ‘Drug-Free’ Weight Gain

Young Thug has put on some weight since being behind bars, and fans are applauding the bulkier version of Thugger because they think it’s likely the result of him being drug-free.

On Wednesday (November 1), a new photo of the incarcerated rapper surfaced online following an appearance in court as the jury selection for his RICO trial finally concluded. While some fans had jokes, most were happy to see the results.

“That drug free weight,” one person wrote on a Neighborhood Talk repost, while another said: “That’s what happens when you no longer on drugs and lean and all the bad shit!”

Someone else commented: “When you remove all those substances from your body your appetite increases.”

The Atlanta rapper’s legal team has been pushing for bond on grounds of their client’s poor health from the one and a half years he’s spent in pretrial detention, with his lawyer arguing during a June hearing that “this lifestyle has caused physically harm to [Young Thug].” Still, the proposition was turned down.

As of now, only seven of the 28 people initially indicted will appear in court as some took deals while others were dropped.

Earlier this month, the Business Is Business star’s attorney revealed an all-star witness list that includes some of the biggest names in Hip Hop.

Court documents obtained by HipHopDX show that the index, which was filed by Brian Steel last month, includes names such as T.I. (real name Clifford Harris), Killer Mike (Michael Render) and music business executive Lyor Cohen.

Young Thug’s witness list also includes a variety of experts, including investigator Jimmy Martin, sheriff’s deputy Jimmy Kennedy, attorney Jacoby Hudson and cell phone expert Detective Scott Demeester.

In all, there are 45 witnesses on the rapper’s witness list, plus “any and all co-Defendants in the above-referenced Indictment,” and “any and all witnesses named in the State’s Witness List as well as any and all witnesses named in the co-Defendants’ Witness List.”

The leader of the Young Slime Life movement also filed to have the prosecution’s witness list excluded.

Young Thug‘s lyrics may be brought into the courtroom — but the problem is, D.A. Fani Willis, the same district attorney who is prosecuting Donald Trump, may not have gotten all the lyrics right.

According to court documents obtained by HipHopDX, some of the lyrics listed in the court documents were incorrect, and still others were incorrectly attributed. For example, the documents read: “knocking off your big homie bitch,” and credit the lyric to Yak Gotti in Unfoonk’s song “Mob Ties.” But that line doesn’t appear anywhere in the song (though a similar line does appear in the song’s hook, spit by 24Heavy), and Yak Gotti doesn’t appear on the track at all.

Another error in the documents involves “Anybody,” which was released in 2018. While the documents claims the lyrics are: “Ready for war like I’m Russia/ I get all types of cash, I’m a general,” the actual lyrics are: “Ready for war like I’m Russia/ Latest Chanel for the luggage.”

While a proposed federal bill limiting the use of song lyrics in criminal proceedings is still pending in the House of Representatives, and similar bills have been introduced in states throughout the country, D.A. Willis has confirmed to NBC News that she will continue to use song lyrics as evidence against defendants if she feels they are relevant.
