After a four-day stay in the hospital, John Sterling, the radio voice of the Yankees, expects to return to calling games either Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

“Everything is cool,” Sterling told The Post.

Sterling, 82, said he had an infection in his blood, which is why he ended up in the hospital. As he was talking to The Post, he was being released from Englewood Hospital in New Jersey. Sterling said the good news was the infection did not reach his heart. He also tested negative for COVID-19.

He said he thought he could be back on Tuesday, but with rain forecasted, he believed he may just come back on Wednesday.

As usual, he sounded in very good spirits with his voice strong. Sterling planned to return by midweek, but FAN could choose to take it a little slower. The station is broadcasting both home and away games from Yankee Stadium.

Sterling has been replaced by Yankees’ Spanish language announcer, Rickie Ricardo, since last Wednesday. But it sounds like Sterling will be back with Suzyn Waldman by midweek.

Sterling does not like to miss games. Last July, Sterling’s streak of 5,058 consecutive games ended.
