The Mets and the Yankees went their separate ways following a memorable weekend replete with drama and emotion, but both local clubs clearly have plenty of whistling work to do in order to reach the playoffs over the final weeks of the regular season.

Whether neither, either or both qualify for postseason play — and they both began the day Monday outside of playoff position — there also are plenty of questions to be answered over the coming weeks for both organizations on and off the diamond.
