An anime adaptation of Ya Boy Kongming! is set to premiere in April 2022. A teaser trailer and visual have been released.
The main staff includes Osamu Honma (The Aquatope on White Sand and Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 2 episode director) as director, Yoko Yonaiyama (Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 2 scriptwriter) as series composer, and Kanami Sekiguchi (SHIROBAKO the Movie, Charlotte) as character designer.
Other staff include Jun’ichi Higashi (Fairy Gone) as art director, Asami Eguchi (The Aquatope on White Sand finishing, finishing check et al.) as color designer, Tomita Yoshimitsu (The Day I Became a God assistant photography director) as photography director, Ichikawa Motonari (Appare-Ranman!) as 3D director, and DJ Genki as music composer. P.A.WORKS is the animation production studio.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Kaede Hondo as Eiko Tsukimi and Ryoutarou Okiayu as Kongming.
The Ya Boy Kongming! manga by Yuuto Yotsuba and Ryou Ogawa began in 2019 and has six tankoubon volumes as of July 2021. Kodansha describes the story as:
General of the Three Kingdoms, Kongming had struggled his whole life, facing countless battles that made him into the accomplished strategist he was. So on his deathbed, he wished only to be reborn into a peaceful world…and was sent straight to modern-day party-central, Tokyo! Can even a brilliant strategist like Kongming adapt to the wild beats and even wilder party people?!
