Is Elon Musk already swinging his weight around at Twitter?

Hours after the Tesla CEO, also the world’s wealthiest person, disclosed a 9.2% stake in the micro-messaging company and became its biggest stakeholder, Musk tweeted out a poll asking whether Twitter users wanted an edit button, not unlike Facebook

As of 3 a.m. Eastern, more than 1.6 million had cast votes, with 74% for, and 24% against.

Twitter announced days earlier that it was working on one. Either adding gravitas to Musk’s poll or simply trolling him, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal responded with advice for users to “vote carefully.”

Musk’s new poll comes on the heels of one he conducted nearly three weeks ago.

Twitter users have been asking for an edit button since the early days. In January 2020, co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey said it was “probably too much work” to ever get that done. Besides, the Square CEO said at the time, Twitter is like a text messaging service, and everyone knows you can’t edit texts.
