The Apple Watch Series 7 brings a new display with 20% more screen real estate. There’s so much room that Apple has even managed to cram a full-size keyboard onto your wrist. (And it looks usable!)

There’s a lot to like about the Apple Watch Series 7, announced on September 14, 2021, but the Retina display that adds 20% more screen real-estate compared to the Apple Watch Series 6 is a standout feature. However, the Watch is about the same size. Rather than making the Watch 20% larger, Apple moved the Watch’s display out towards its edges. The corners are rounded, too.

Apple also says it’s adjusted the interface so that you can fit nearly 50% more text on the Watch’s screen. There are bigger buttons for the bigger display, too.

Thanks to the bigger screen and all those optimizations, Apple is finally able to fit a full keyboard onto your wrist. You can tap the individual letters to type or swipe-to-type thanks to the QuickPath feature, which makes its way from iPhone and iPad to the Watch. Just drag your finger from letter to letter and watchOS will guess the word you’re trying to type. You don’t have to scribble individual letters on your wrist or hope Siri can interpret what you say properly.

That’s not the only new feature, of course. Apple says the Watch can charge around 33% faster, and you can get enough juice to track eight hours of sleep with just eight minutes of charging. The new Watch will be up to 70% brighter when your wrist is down, too.

The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399 and will be available sometime later in fall 2021.
