Wonder Egg Priority Special Edition will premiere on June 29, the anime’s Twitter page announced. The one-hour special will air from 1:34 AM to 2:34 AM on Japanese television, and from midnight in streaming sites in the country.

Announced in March, Wonder Egg Priority Special Edition will serve as the continuation of Winter 2021’s fantasy action/drama series Wonder Egg Priority. The original anime series featured impressive animation but also suffered from severe production issues. A recap episode was released during the anime’s original run.

Wonder Egg Priority’s staff includes Shin Wakabayashi (22/7: The Diary of Our Days) as director, Shinji Nojima (Homeless Child) as scriptwriter, and Saki Takahashi (Her Blue Sky) as the character designer and the chief animation director. Other staff include Yuta Yamazaki (Love Rice) as assistant director, Iori Hisatake (Mob Psycho 100 II) as guest character designer, and DE DE MOUSE and Clammbon bassist Mito as music composers. Cloverworks is in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Kanata Aikawa as Ai Ohto, Tomori Kusunoki as Neiru Aonuma, Shuka Saito as Rika Kawai, and Hinaki Yano as Momoe Sawaki.

Funimation describes the story as:

This is the story of Ai, an introverted girl whose fate is forever changed when she acquires a mysterious “Wonder Egg” from a deserted arcade. That night, her dreams blend into reality, and as other girls obtain their own Wonder Eggs, Ai discovers new friends—and the magic within herself.
